Biography

Dr. Arshad Mehmood joined IACS in 2024. He earned his Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from Texas Christian University in 2020, focusing on developing electronic structure visualization tools to quantify chemical reactivity. In January 2021, he joined Prof. Benjamin G. Levine’s research group at IACS as a postdoctoral associate, specializing in GPU-accelerated electronic structure methods and the photochemistry of molecules and quantum dots.

Research

Dr. Mehmood's research pushes the boundaries of molecular and material science through high-performance computing, with a focus on simulating ultrafast spectroscopy observables and excited-state dynamics. His expertise includes developing electronic structure visualization tools, quantum crystallography, and modeling material defects for technological advancements. By leveraging the power of high-performance computing, Dr. Mehmood aims to drive innovative research at Stony Brook University, contributing to breakthroughs in energy efficiency, material science, and computational methodologies.
