Biography
Robert Harrison is a theoretical chemist and expert in high-performance computing. He is the founding Director of the Institute for Advanced Computational Science at Stony Brook and Interim Executive Director of the Empire AI Consortium, New York State's collaborative AI research initiative. He also directs the Computational Science Center at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Before Stony Brook, he was Director of the Joint Institute for Computational Science at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he was also Professor of Chemistry and Corporate Fellow. He earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at the University of Cambridge.
Research
Accurate calculations on large systems and heavy elements using advanced numerical and computational techniques. Long-standing contributions to the NWChem and MADNESS computational chemistry packages.
